To be so close to ones parents is truly something to be grateful for. Esme waiting up for Edward shows how much she truly wants to look after him. Awesome chapter: they all are.

I burst into tears all over again when his mother was waiting up for him. That was incredibly touching.

Bless Esme for trying to be there for Edward in the way Carlisle always was, yet still acknowledging that it was in no way the same thing. Her role is as his mother, and he still needs her to be exactly that. Although the love she had with Carlisle is the kind that typically comes along once in a lifetime, I hope that Some Little Girls shows us that she meets someone special further down the line. Not a man to replace Carlisle, but someone worthy of her who loves her and fulfills her needs.

When I read that Edward/Carlisle exchange quite a few chapters back, it resonated then, so I wasn't expecting it to hurt quite so much when recollected by Edward. Once again, he proves that he is his mother's son and his father's son by electing to see that final task as communication with his father.

While I do have an uncanny knack for remembering details, I may or may not have been (am?) a *smidge* obsessed with AA5. I read it several times and am not too surprised that I remember specific details considering I soaked up every word like a sponge....but it is cool that even though it's not available any more I am able to think back to what was going on with Bella's POV and compare them in my mind. I know you've said you never meant to have readers compare AA5 and CP side by side so I suppose not having AA5 available is perhaps a good thing? Thanks for writing such wonderful stories!

What an insightful comment—and amazing memory. I'm not sure which draft of Art After 5 it's in, but B looks away from the city when she does so—
"I loved you, too, Carlisle—and thank you." She's facing East, which is toward Edward's house.

Thank you for reading.

I totally forgot about Carlisle having Edward's keys. If I'm not mistaken, Easter chapter is next and Edward uses Bella's housekey. Love that you were able to make something insignificant significant in some way. Just as you talked about "the exchanging of metal" in regards to the seriousness of a relationship, it still holds true after everything they've been through.

It makes me all gushy inside knowing that while Edward and his mother are having this conversation, Bella is looking at the stars thanking Carlisle. I also appreciate that you made the amount of money Edward is to receive unknown....eloquent as always.

Thank you for the update. I love that Edward realizes that Bella needs him so much, as well. Learning new (and not always pleasant) things about our parents is tough. In my opinion, it's one of the bigget steps of growing up. I was 25 when this happened but I have to admit, your Edward handles it better than I did. (There might be a problem with alerts, I haven't received one this time.)

There are so many beautiful things about your writing but your depiction of interpersonal relaltionships is second to none. The relationship between Edward and his parents is a thing of beauty and their conversations are a joy to read. I'm so sad that this story is winding down.

Hands down, one of my most favorite Edwards in fanficdom. You rule -- it's as easy as that.

Excellent chapter! I love the interaction of Edward and his mother. I'm glad Edward has Bella to talk to too.
